History of Temple City



Temple City was founded in 1923 by a man named Walter Temple. Temple purchased a large section of land in the area and dubbed it Temple. Although the community saw little growth during its early years, it blossomed when the railroad ran through it in 1926. It was at this time that the city's name was changed to Temple City.
